All in Stride
(Lewis Franco)
The motivation for this song was just to use phrase "boo hooing" (I heard Dwight Howard use it after a playoff loss and I liked the way it sounded). It ended up being about a self-absorbed guy who is too cool for school.
Just take it all in stride they say Soon there will come a brighter day I tell em I’m alright, okay? I’m takin’ in all in stride I open up the newspaper, Flip it to the funny pages Haven’t read a comic that made me laugh in ages The headlines get past me, Why? Fellas, don’t ask me I guess my blues are front page news to me Peace in the Middle East! Well that’s groovy, but what’s it to me? FBI solves the crime! I’ll read all about it another time All I seem to read are Dear John letters telling me I’m sad and selfish I’m gonna have to brood on that, and put on that facade Of taking it all in stride Thinkin’ of all the times I’ve stumbled down the wrong winding road Following the crowd or fleeing from it, feeling like a toad But if I sat and cried each time I’d ruin every single day just boo-hooin’ So I keep doin’ what I’m doin’ takin’ it all in stride I'm taking it all in stride Thinkin’ of all the times I’ve stumbled down the wrong winding road Following the crowd or fleeing from it, feeling like a toad But if I sat and cried each time I’d ruin every single day just boo-hooin’ So I keep doin’ what I’m doin’, hoppin' along singin' this song Takin’ it all in stride, takin’ it all in stride
